Trend Workshop for the Jewellery Sector

Jewellery manufacturing and designs are intrinsically important in fashion and trend forecast. The trend in jewellery designs is flexible and keep changing as per the fashion and consumers preferences. It is therefore essential for companies to be equipped with the right tools and techniques to better respond to the changing consumer patterns and become globally competitive.

In this perspective, the EDB organized a Trend Workshop for the Jewellery sector on 10 October 2019 at the Landscope Mauritius Conference Hall, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tower in Ebene. The event saw the participation of around 150 participants comprising jewellery manufacturers, representatives of Fashion & Design Institute, National Women Entrepreneur Council, Jewelers Association, MITD, Jewellery Federation and Jewellery Advisory Council amongst others.

The participants were apprised on the latest international trends that are shaping the jewellery sector as well as the tools, techniques, design, market changes and growth of branded products. Mrs Geraldine Valluet, Creative Director and Designer provided a comprehensive presentation with specific focus on the following:

  • Latest Trends in Style and Design that drives the Jewellery Industry
  • New market requirement in jewellery and its evolution
  • Innovations in marketing, new distribution processes & internet challenges to change the jewellery business’s model
  • Development of successful jewellery collection for the European market.

The workshop also included an impressive presentation by Mr. Ramon Cortes, MD & Founder of Diams Ltd, Swiss Gemologist who introduced participants to the Universe of Diamond and Meteorite Jewellery.

During the workshop, attendees also had the opportunity to learn and gain additional information on the various schemes, incentives and financial facilities available for jewellery manufacturers through institutions such as the Human Resource Development Council, Development Bank of Mauritius and Investment Support Scheme & SME Equity Fund Ltd.

The participants expressed their overall appreciation of the event organized and stated that it represented a unique opportunity for everyone to enhance their knowledge on the latest trends driving the international jewellery industry.
