Logistics Performance Index (LPI): Mauritius ranks 78th
The World Bank ranks Mauritius at the 78th position out of 160 countries in the world for its Logistics Performance Index (LPI), with a score of 2.73. The country leapfrogged by 37 places with respect to its previous ranking and is ranked 5th in Sub Saharan Africa. The LPI is released every two years since 2007 and measures on-the ground efficiency of trade supply chains, or logistics performance.
Mauritius improved in 5 of the 6 indicators analysed by the index namely the efficiency of Customs and Border Management clearance, the quality of trade and infrastructure, the competence and quality of logistics services, the ability to track and trace consignments and the timeliness. This leap has been made possible through multi-level reforms and sustained efforts to improve the cross-border trade and logistics sector.
